Music in Motion

Music in Motion is a Connecticut chamber music series founded by classical duo Nikki Pet (clarinet) and Aimee Toner. These unique concerts use cutting edge technology to seamlessly integrate the performed music with visual projections, creating a presentation of classical music enhanced by multimedia and live animated accompaniment. Through these concerts, Nikki and I hope to entertain audiences with both the richness of classical music and the stories that these pieces tell.

Educational Engagement

Music in Motion presents a unique cross disciplinary approach to arts education and an accessible introduction to classical music, encouraging students to explore connections between art forms and pursue new artistic avenues.

At the Langford School on July 22nd, Nikki and I presented four rounds of 30-minute presentations, featuring virtual accompaniment and works by Joan Tower and Elizabeth Brown, to groups of students ranging from 2nd to 4th grade (with over 50 students reached in total). Students responded to Nikki’s performance of Joan Tower’s “Wings” by identifying visual interactions that shifted based on the speed and dynamic of Nikki’s clarinet playing. My performance of Elizabeth Brown’s “Antarctica” inspired discussion of sensory perception of artwork.
